Troy State University Distance Learning

The Troy State University distance learning center is a part of the University College component of Troy University, Alabama. University College sites span from Korea to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. To describe this widespread access, University College has coined a phrase "the sun never sets on Troy University."

A variety of distance learning courses including six graduate degrees, seven bachelor and three associate degree programs are offered. At present seven masters degree programs are also available. Masters' degree programs are offered in Management, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, International Relations, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, and Education.

The distance learning course content is continuously being monitored, evaluated and updated by the learned and experienced faculty members to provide quality assurance.

Admission procedure

Admission to the Troy State University distance learning courses has the same criteria as admission for any on-campus course offered by Troy University. There is a $40 admission fee. Tuition and fees are subject to change and are published on the Distance Learning Center's web site.

Troy University offers a comprehensive program of financial assistance for students pursuing a graduate degree. Application forms for Financial Aid can be requested through email. Students who are qualified for financial aid can pay their tuition fees by means of the GI Bill, Veterans Administration, and tuition assistance (TA).

Troy university is regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Distance Learning Center offers similar credits through distance learning course as that of on campus courses.

Credits are also recorded in the same manner on a Troy University transcript. Most of the students enroll for degree courses, but they can also take individual courses and may apply to degree courses at other institutions.

Distance learning methodology

Troy State University distance learning courses are web interactive and are delivered through the Blackboard Internet-learning platform. Additional technology tools used to deliver coursework are videoconferencing, cable TV, and web-enhanced technology and videotape/DVD media. Professors teach courses using the latest course materials and instruction techniques that facilitate rich interaction between students and professors.

Apart from providing online registration services, final grades are also delivered online via Trojan Web Express. Delivering grades online is more convenient, time efficient and less expensive. Students who have achieved academic honors; students who are placed on academic suspension or probation are also notified online.
