The college is well known at the national level and it offers almost 200 options for degrees and certificates in university transfer and career preparation programs. Almost 40 bachelor's degree completion and master's degree programs are offered at its University Center.

Macomb Community College offers Comprehensive Degree Connections to help students to find the right fit in both career and degree paths. Professional development and certification programs are also provided, to keep careers on track.

Accreditations

Macomb Community College is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1970. The Higher Learning Commission is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The HLC accredits, and thus grants membership in the Commission and in the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, to degree-granting educational institutions in the North Central region.

Different programs offered by the college are accredited or approved by other agencies and organizations. For example, the Legal Assistant Program is approved by the American Bar Association and the Associate Degree in Nursing Program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC).

Distance Learning

Macomb College Online (MCO) is a partnership of several educational organizations that provide a portal to more than 4,000 online learning opportunities. MCO offers a range of associate's and bachelor's degrees as well as certificates through partner institutions. A master's degree is also available in business.

Students who are interested in distance learning can join Online @ Macomb, which offers students the option to earn college credits by means of the Internet. Students can become actively involved in interactive, collaborative groups, from anywhere in the world.

Learners can join a virtual classroom and take part in discussions, complete assignments, communicate with experts and get feedback from the instructor.

The Online @ Macomb program is designed to provide plenty of flexibility, though online classes may feel like they are more intense than traditional classes, because the traditional 16-week term is accelerated into an 8-week term.

Students must commit enough time, if they are to study and to complete assignments on time. Adult non-traditional students, who are rushed for time, need to think about whether they can fit the online courses into their busy schedules.

Macomb Community College offers learners from Michigan an opportunity to get a recognized degree from an accredited institution that will help then to make a start in a career of their choice.
